Remembering Pratt – Window Display
February 5 - February 28
The five Henry Pratt Company employees who died at the hand of a disgruntled fellow employee on February 15, 2019 will once again be memorialized at the Aurora Historical Society. Russell Beyer, Clayton Parks, Vicente Juarez, Trevor Wehner and Josh Pinkard, as well as the gunman, all died that day. Five Aurora police officers were wounded.
Although the historical society galleries and gift shop at the Pierce Art and History Center are closed because of Covid, the exhibit will be mounted in the gift shop windows so that the public can view it from the sidewalk. The exhibit will be on display February 5-28, 2021.
On display will be the five white crosses made at the time of the tragedy by the late Greg Zanis. Zanis, an Auroran, became famous as “the cross man” who over a period of decades built and delivered 20,000 crosses to sites of tragedies all around the country. He passed away May 4, 2020.
Included in the display will be items from the memorials that grew up along the fence at the Pratt factory.
